Diane Neumann, Attorney – Mediator

Diane Neumann, J.D., M.A. is the principal of Diane Neumann & Associates, Divorce Mediation Services. She began her mediation practice in 1981 and is recognized as one of the foremost mediators in the country. Diane’s areas of expertise are three-fold: complex financial issues, complicated tax matters, and difficult parenting issues. Diane is the author of two highly acclaimed books “Divorce Mediation: How to Cut the Cost and Stress of Divorce” and “Choosing a Divorce Mediator”, both published by Henry Holt & Co. In addition to her practice, she has been training mediators since 1987. Diane often mediates with clients who own businesses, have complex executive compensation packages, defined benefit plans, and several trusts, significant pre-marital assets, valuable real-estate and equities. She is an expert as to fairly dividing complicated marital assets, taking into account tax consequences. Diane provides suggestions to clients in order that each party makes good decisions – her clients do not walk away from the table with an unfair settlement. Diane is a Past President of the International Academy of Family Mediators and a Past President of the Massachusetts Counsel on Family Mediation. She is a founder of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. She is a Certified Mediator by the Massachusetts Council of Family Mediation, and she is an Advanced Practitioner by the Association for Conflict Resolution in Washington, D.C. She holds a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Arts in Counseling, and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker. Her experience as a licensed Massachusetts attorney, a couples counselor, a real estate broker, and an Internal Revenue Service Representative make her uniquely suited to help clients reach the best possible settlement for each person.
