ELLEN WALDORF, J. D., is the senior mediator at the firm. She has worked as a divorce mediator with Diane Neumann & Associates since 2001. Ellen draws on her extensive experience to train new mediators through Divorce Mediation Training Associates and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education.
Ellen is a cum laude graduate of Yale University and has a law degree from the New York University School of Law, where she was a member of the NYU Law Review. Prior to joining Diane Neumann & Associates, Ellen analyzed investment opportunities for a private equity fund, practiced corporate law with O’Melveny & Myers LLP, clerked for the Honorable John Porfilio of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, taught English in China, and interned for “Late Night with David Letterman.”
Ellen’s experience ranges from complex assets allocation to complicated alimony formulas. Her practice encompasses a range of areas: separation and divorce, post-divorce conflicts, and prenuptial agreements.
The mediation tasks are the same in all cases: understanding the issues, exploring options and making choices. Regardless of the complexity of a couple’s circumstances, each client has a unique approach to absorbing information and making decisions, and Ellen recognizes this diversity and tailors the mediation to the needs of each client. With some couples, the entire mediation is conducted in joint in-person sessions, while for others, some of the mediation is conducted in parallel sessions between the mediator and each spouse. Ellen also works frequently with clients via telephone, e-mail and video-conferencing.
Though the structure of the mediation may vary among couples, Ellen’s goal remains constant, and that is to assist couples to reach fair and reasonable agreements the Court will accept, and, more importantly, allow each client to move forward after divorce.
